The 15th Conference of the United Nations’ "Convention on Biological Diversity" (CBD COP15) is scheduled to be held in Kunming, Yunnan from October 11th to 24th, 2021. The world-famous Chengjiang fossil site lies on the north shore of Fuxian Lake. It is a window into the Cambrian life explosion and one of the sacred early-life fossil sites, known as the cradle of life. Fauna on Chengjiang’s Maotianshan Mountain point to the scene of the Cambrian explosion of life, and it is also the place where Mr. Hou Xianguang first discovered fossils. 530 million years ago, it was a shallow sea teeming with the earliest animals on earth which roamed freely. Suddenly encountering a mudslide, many animals were instantly buried alive at the bottom of the sea. Afterwards geological changes caused an uplift to form the current mountain range. The recent May 1st holiday saw a sudden boom in tourists, scenes of "too many people" throughout Yuxi. In just 5 days, Yuxi received a total of 1,852,700 tourists, an increase of 96.91% over the same period in 2020 and an increase of 82.78% over the same period in 2019. Tourism revenue during the holiday reached RMB 1.113 billion, an increase of 75.28% over the same period in 2020 and an increase of 82.76% over the same period in 2019, showing a strong recovery trend. A number of emerging scenic spots have bucked the trend with brand-new images and products, becoming new "check-in spots" for tourists. Guanglong Town in Chengjiang, was grandly opened to tourists, with a Starlight Night Market, and the diversity folklore programs, as well as local delicacies. The main scenic spots around Fuxian Lake received a total of 458,600 tourists, an increase of 221.15% compared with 142,800 in the same period last year, and an increase of 316.15% compared with 110,200 in the same period of 2019, showing an "explosive" growth. On April 15th, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China held the 2021 China Beautiful Countryside Leisure Tourism Tour (Spring) Promotion Event, and released 55 boutique routes and 176 boutique attractions. The Hani Yunhai Terraces Folk Custom Tour in Yuanjiang County was selected as a boutique route. The Hani Yunhai Terraces are representative of agricultural culture, biodiversity and the harmonious development of human society and nature. On March 28th, the People's Government of Yunnan Province issued a Notice on Naming "Beautiful County Towns in Yunnan Province" and "Special Towns in Yunnan Province". Chengjiang was named a "Beautiful County in Yunnan Province". On March 25th, the official website of the State General Administration of Sports released the "Announcement of the 2020 National Sports Industry Base Selection Results from the Department of Sports Economics of the General Administration of Sports". In the selection results, a total of 13 national sports industry demonstration bases were shortlisted. March 22nd is "World Water Day", Yuxi Fuxian Lake has made it onto CCTV again! News Live Room of CCTV News Channel broadcast the relocation program of residents around Fuxian Lake. Fuxian Lake in Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, is the largest lake at the source of the Pearl River. It was called “Liu Li Wan Qing” or “vast and shimmering crystal waters” by the ancients for its crystal-clear water. The water storage capacity of Fuxian Lake accounts for nearly 70% of the total water storage capacity of the nine plateau lakes in Yunnan.
