Come and Get to Know 500 Million Year Old Creatures, Welcome to Maotianshan Mountain!
The 15th Conference of the United Nations’ "Convention on Biological Diversity" (CBD COP15) is scheduled to be held in Kunming, Yunnan from October 11th to 24th, 2021.
The world-famous Chengjiang fossil site lies on the north shore of Fuxian Lake. It is a window into the Cambrian life explosion and one of the sacred early-life fossil sites, known as the cradle of life.
Fauna on Chengjiang’s Maotianshan Mountain point to the scene of the Cambrian explosion of life, and it is also the place where Mr. Hou Xianguang first discovered fossils. 530 million years ago, it was a shallow sea teeming with the earliest animals on earth which roamed freely. Suddenly encountering a mudslide, many animals were instantly buried alive at the bottom of the sea. Afterwards geological changes caused an uplift to form the current mountain range. The fauna vividly reproduced the magnificent landscape of marine life 530 million years ago, providing precious evidence for the study of theories on the origin, evolution, and ecology of early life on earth.

On May 19th, the 15th "China Tourism Day" arrived as scheduled. A flash mob themed "Colorful Yuanjiang · Joyful Songs on the Silk Road - A Feast of Ethnic Cultures along the China-Laos Railway" was passionately launched at Yuanjiang Station of the China-Laos Railway. Local ethnic dancers from the Hani, Yi, Dai and other ethnic groups wore gorgeous ethnic costumes, weaving a flowing picture scroll of ethnic customs with their songs and dances. At the scene, special fruits of Yuanjiang such as mangoes, lychee and pineapples were served for free, for passengers to have a taste, so that everyone can feel the enthusiasm of Yuanjiang, the City of Flowers and Fruits, as soon as they get off the train.
