Encountering the New Check-in Scenic Spots in Yuxi

The recent May 1st holiday saw a sudden boom in tourists,  scenes of "too many people" throughout Yuxi. In just 5 days, Yuxi received a total of 1,852,700 tourists, an increase of 96.91% over the same period in 2020 and an increase of 82.78% over the same period in 2019. Tourism revenue during the holiday reached RMB 1.113 billion, an increase of 75.28% over the same period in 2020 and an increase of 82.76% over the same period in 2019, showing a strong recovery trend.

A number of emerging scenic spots have bucked the trend with brand-new images and products, becoming new "check-in spots" for tourists. Guanglong Town in Chengjiang, was grandly opened to tourists, with a Starlight Night Market, and the diversity folklore programs, as well as local delicacies. The main scenic spots around Fuxian Lake received a total of 458,600 tourists, an increase of 221.15% compared with 142,800 in the same period last year, and an increase of 316.15% compared with 110,200 in the same period of 2019, showing an "explosive" growth.

Huaning Wanyao International Pottery Village and Yuxi Qinghua Street mixed modern commercial economy with the existing culture that has lasted for hundreds of years, bringing more for visitors to enjoy. The depth and quality of local cultural experiences and consumption has become a new landmark of Yuxi cultural tourism.

Recently, tourists have been immersing themselves in bamboo pole dancing at the Yuzhufenghai Scenic Area in Eshan. As the summer travel peak arrives, several popular scenic spots in Eshan County have jointly launched the "Charming Eshan" tourist route, which covers distinctive attractions such as Yuzhufenghai, Yuncha Villa, Xi'e Ancient Town, and the Thousand-Mu Lotus Pond. Additionally, thoughtful "one-day tour" and "two-day tour" itineraries have been planned, attracting numerous tourists to come and experience.

On May 19th, the 15th "China Tourism Day" arrived as scheduled. A flash mob themed "Colorful Yuanjiang · Joyful Songs on the Silk Road - A Feast of Ethnic Cultures along the China-Laos Railway" was passionately launched at Yuanjiang Station of the China-Laos Railway. Local ethnic dancers from the Hani, Yi, Dai and other ethnic groups wore gorgeous ethnic costumes, weaving a flowing picture scroll of ethnic customs with their songs and dances. At the scene, special fruits of Yuanjiang such as mangoes, lychee and pineapples were served for free, for passengers to have a taste, so that everyone can feel the enthusiasm of Yuanjiang, the City of Flowers and Fruits, as soon as they get off the train.
