

Yunnan has recently increased its fund-raising efforts and has first issued a total award of RMB 2 billion for 20 “Beautiful Counties” named by the Yunnan Provincial People’s Government. Xinping Yi and Dai Autonomous County in Yuxi has been fortunate to win this honor and has received RMB 100 million as its share of the award. This fund is to be used towards the beautification of a “clean, livable, and distinctive” county. The award will mainly be used for public projects to improve the livelihood of the people. On July 23rd, the Yuxi Flower Industry Belt Strategy Conference of Jingxi & Jingdong Cold Chain was held. At the press conference, Liang Dong, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Yuxi Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor of Yuxi Municipal People’s Government, delivered a speech. The focus of the Conference is on cooperatively establishing and supporting the “integration of e-commerce cold chain logistics” for the Yuxi Flower Industry Belt. Through the live webcast on the Yunnan Culture Cloud client platform, the culture and industry of Huaning Pottery was introduced to the public. The location setting for the antique-themed webcast was filled with carefully selected pottery. The person in charge of Huaning Cultural Tourism Bureau and the web anchor of the Yunnan Culture Cloud promoted the history and culture of Huaning Pottery while explaining key aspects such as classification, types, and glazes. The webcast attracted many netizens to actively participate in the live broadcast. 2020-07-31On July 16th, after more than four years of hard work and half a month ahead of schedule, the Tongda tunnel on the China-Laos Railway line built by the Fifth Bureau of China Railway, was successfully completed. It marks another major breakthrough in the construction of the Kunming-Vientiane Line on the China-Laos Railway. At 4.30 am on July 16th, deep inside the Tongda tunnel, builders cheered and waved flags to celebrate the completion of the tunnel. The Tongda tunnel in Yuanjiang Hani, Yi and Dai Autonomous County, is 11298 meters long and rates as a national level-1 high-risk tunnel. The Tongda tunnel was completed 15 days ahead of schedule. So far, 95% of the tunnel construction in China and more than 90% of the bridge projects have been completed, and the earthwork for the roads are close to completion. This all laying a solid foundation for the completion of the whole railway by next year. It is reported that the China-Laos Railway under construction is a landmark project of “the Belt and Road” Initiative and the friendship between China and Laos. The China-Laos Railway is more than 1,000 kilometers long, of which the Yuxi to Mohan Line in China on the China-Laos Railway is 508 kilometers long. After completion and opening to traffic, it will only take approximately three hours driving from Kunming to Jinghong in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture. The First Exhibition Hall of Central Yunnan’s Cultivation Culture in Hongta District to be Open to the Public

On July 14th, 2020, the main Yuxi Changle Hot Spring Resort Hotel project in Dianzhong Botanical Garden of Hongta District was completed. Internal and external decoration is now underway and is expected to be put into use before year-end. It is reported that a number of mountain hotels are under construction in Yuxi each with distinctive themes, outstanding characteristics and different styles. Baiyizhai Village is 16 kilometers from E’shan County. It is a Yi village under the jurisdiction of the Baoshan Village Committee of the Shuangjiang Subdistrict. In addition to having a long history and profound cultural heritage, it holds the dual honors of being a“Top 10 Embroidery Village in Yunnan”and a provincial Model Village of National Unity. It is said that all Yi women in the village are good at embroidery and they carry their embroidery tools with them wherever they go. Whenever and wherever they find a moment, they start embroidering. There is an ancient saying in Yi villages that“Mountains that do not grow trees are not real mountains, and women who cannot embroider are not real Yi women”.
