Yuanjiang Hani, Yi and Dai Autonomous County is located in the south of Yuxi in central Yunnan, 220 kilometers from the provincial capital Kunming. With a total area of 2,858 square kilometers, Yuanjiang governs the sub-streets of Lijiang, Honghe and Ganzhuang as well as the towns Yinyuan, Manlai, Yangjie Township, Nanuo Township, Wadi Township, Mili Township, and Longtan Township while also governing 81 villages (communities) and 765 village (resident) groups. The altitude of the region ranges from 327 meters to 2580 meters above sea level. There is an annual average temperature of 25.8℃, annual rainfall of 375 mm and annual sunshine hours of 2538.6 hours. At the end of 2019, there was a resident population of 224,600, of which 97,600 are urban residents. The urbanization rate is 43.45%, and 173,693 are ethnic minorities, accounting for 82.12%. There are more than 100 species of wild animals, 163 different agricultural crops, 228 species of economic crops, 224 species of flowers, 170 species of medicinal materials and 2000 species of forest resources in Yuanjiang. There are also as many as 21 kinds of metallic and non-metallic minerals present in Yuanjiang, such as gold, copper, iron, nickel, ruby, serpentine and so on. Nickel reserves are 533,000 tons, ranking the second in China. The reserves of water energy are theoretically 413,900 kilowatts and there are 15 hot springs with temperatures ranging from 21°C to 94 °C. The main tourist attractions are the Hot Sea Scenic Spot in Red River, Hani Terraced Fields and the World’s First Highest Bridge Scenic Spot. Yuanjiang is famous for many specialty products. Famous products mainly include fruits like mango, green dates, dragonfruit, litchi, and jackfruit, as well as traditional delicacies like terrace farmed organic red rice, ham, Dai style puffed rice, dried rice noodles, tamarind juice, aloe pudding and zhujie tea. In 2019, The GDP of Yuanjiang reached RMB11.70352 billion, an increase of 9.6%. Per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents reached RMB 39,845 and RMB 14,099, an increase of 8.4% and 10.1% respectively.
