Varied in topography of crisscrossing mountains, valleys, lakes and basins and with a mild climate not too cold in winter nor too warm in summer, the Fuxian, Xingyun, and Qilu lakes are embedded in the mountains and valleys like a string of sparkling pearls, of which the Fuxian Lake, with a total coverage of 216.6 square kilometers and a storage capacity of 20.62 billion cubic meters of first grade fresh water, is the second deepest of its kind in China, with the deepest point being 158.9 meters and its average depth being 95.2 meters.
