Chengjiang City is located in central Yunnan, 52 km from Kunming, and inside the core area of the One Hour Economic Circuit in Central Yunnan. It is known as the back garden of Kunming, the reception hall of Yunnan and the most beautiful county in Yunnan. It is rated as a national leisure agriculture and rural tourism demonstration county and the most valuable cultural tourism county in (Yunnan) China. In 2016, Chengjiang City was listed in the second batch of national all-for one tourism demonstration zones. In May 2019, Fuxian Lake was upgraded to national tourist resort status. In February 2020, Chengjiang was officially renamed as Chengjiang City. 
Chengjiang City has three brands of "the world's deep blue lake zone, the origin of life on earth, and the imprint of ancient Yunnan culture". In the future, it will deeply implement the development strategy of "establishing the city by ecology, revitalizing the city through opening up, and strengthening the city through tourism", so as to build Chengjiang into "an international tourism city, an international health city, and an international conference center city". Fuxian Lake is a deep-water freshwater lake with the largest storage capacity and an important strategic reserve water resource in China. The total length of the lakeshore is 100.8 km, the average water depth is 95.2 meters, and the deepest point is 158.9 meters. Around the lake, there are not only Lüchong, Mingxing Fish Cave, Biyun Temple, Gushan Isle, Moon Bay Wetland Park, Xianhu Bay, Fuhai Bay, Time Plank Road, but also major tourism projects such as Cambrian Town, Guanglong Town, Lichang Town and Xingkong Town. The Chengjiang Fossil Site is the only world natural heritage fossil site in Asia. Fossil fauna dating 530 million years back has been found here, which serves as an example of the "Cambrian Life Explosion" with the most concentrated distribution, the most complete preservation and the most abundant species found on the earth. There are also the "First Peak in Central Yunnan" Liangwang Mountain and Jinlianshan Tombs, and the largest Yunnanlong fossil and national intangible cultural heritage Xiaotun Guansuo Opera. Chengjiang City has an excellent natural environment, rich tourism resources and obvious location advantages. In recent years, the 30th Anniversary of World Heritage Conference, ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Conference, China-South Asia Cooperation Forum, Fortune Global Sustainability Forum, International Super Marathon, Gryffindor International Cycling Festival, International Yoga Culture Festival and other meetings and events have been held in Chengjiang City. It is an ideal place for tourism, leisure, sports, conferences and exhibitions.
