2021 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos. On December 3, 2021, the China-Laos Railway, a landmark project symbolizing the friendship between the two countries in this new era, was officially opened. The total length of the China-Laos railway is 1,035 kilometers, starting from Kunming, China in the north and ending in Vientiane, Laos in the south. The Yuxi branch of the railway is 145.78 kilometers long and boasts 5 stations. Over the past year, Yuxi City has actively participated in the high-quality construction of the "Belt and Road".
