Foreign Media Attention: China-Laos Railway Promotes Development in Yuxi

 

  According to a recent Associated Press report, January 3rd, 2022 marked one month since the China-Laos Railway opened for operation. During this first month, a total of 670,000 passengers and 170,000 tons of cargo with more than RMB 500 million yuan have been transported.

   The China-Laos Railway is 1,035kms long in total 145kms of which are in Yuxi, Yunnan province. The Yuxi stretch boasts five stations: Yuxi, E'shan, Yanhe, Huanian and Yuanjiang. According to the Publicity Department of CPC Yuxi Municipal Committee, on December 23rd, 2021, Yuxi Station saw a total of more than 85,000 passengers. Since the first international freight train of Yuxi departed from Yanhe Station on December 27th, more than 50 containers of temperature controlled cargo have been transported.  

   Also according to the American Market Watch of Dow Jones, you can easily experience the unique natural scenery and cultural customs of Yuxi by taking the China-Laos Railway train. For example, as the only world heritage fossil site in Asia, the Chengjiang Fossil Site reveals the history of evolution of living organisms in the Cambrian Period and is known as “one of the most amazing scientific discoveries in the 20th century”. The Ailaoshan Mountains have been listed as a “Man and Biosphere” forest ecosystem orientation observatory and conservation base for international migratory birds by the United Nations. Recently, tourists have been immersing themselves in bamboo pole dancing at the Yuzhufenghai Scenic Area in Eshan. On May 19th, the 15th "China Tourism Day" arrived as scheduled. A flash mob themed "Colorful Yuanjiang · Joyful Songs on the Silk Road - A Feast of Ethnic Cultures along the China-Laos Railway" was passionately launched at Yuanjiang Station of the China-Laos Railway. Local ethnic dancers from the Hani, Yi, Dai and other ethnic groups wore gorgeous ethnic costumes, weaving a flowing picture scroll of ethnic customs with their songs and dances. At the scene, special fruits of Yuanjiang such as mangoes, lychee and pineapples were served for free, for passengers to have a taste, so that everyone can feel the enthusiasm of Yuanjiang, the City of Flowers and Fruits, as soon as they get off the train.
