Amazing! Yuxi Agriculture
As early as 530 million years ago during the Cambrian Period, there had signs of living creatures. The Chengjiang Fauna, the world natural heritage discovered here, has vividly unfolded the scenes of explosive development of life during the Cambrian Period. Yuxi is praised as the Origin of Life on Earth，the Hometown of Yunnan Tobacco, the Hometown of Huadeng Opera, the Hometown of Nie’er, and the Water-town on the Plateau.
Yuxi is one of the first batch of national agricultural test demonstration zones for sustainable development. Yuxi is located in the low latitude on the plateau. It belongs to central subtropical plateau monsoon climate with the average temperature is 20 ℃. The average amount of precipitation is 1000 mm. The good conditions of light and heat create the advantages for producing fresh agricultural products at different seasons.
There are 2271 species of wild higher plants and 82 soil species. The forest coverage rate is 57%. Theses advantages with the three lakes on the plateau form an excellent ecological environment for Yuxi. Yuxi Agriculture is abundant, ecological, safe, high-quality and fragrance in four seasons. Yuxi Agriculture is developing an effective export-oriented. Yuxi has established tobacco, vegetables, flowers, fruits, bio-medicine, livestock and other distinctive and advantageous industries. Yuxi has become an important export base for South and Southeast Asian countries in western China.
In recent years, Yuxi is establishing the world-class Green Food Brands in full wing a circular industrial demonstration zone, forming a standardized industrial system, promoting the application of intensive production technology and constructing an ecological agricultural protection system. The planting area of pollution-free agricultural products with certification has reached 2.47 million mu. The national finest open field ecological vegetable production demonstration base in China has been established. The use of chemical fertilizer and pesticides has been reduced for five years, and the qualified rate in quality and safety test of agricultural products has been kept steady at over 98%. Great ecological environment is the foundation of making good products. Great products and brands can bring good reputation. Yuxi has 148 certified pollution-free, natural and organic products.
The standard output value of enterprises has reached over RMB ten billions yuan. Yuxi Cigarette, Huaning Orange, Huaning Persimmon, Chengjiang Lotus Root and Kanglang Fish of Fuxian Lake have got geographical indication certificates in agricultural products by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Hongbin Chilli and Mouthdoleak Tamarind Cake have got national well-known trademarks. Congshan and Kangyuan wild mushrooms, Yuanjiang Aloe series products have been well sold in China and exported to western countries. The exquisite Chu Orange received national honors. The open field vegetables are exported in four seasons. Plateau flowers are super popular nationally. China Red Roses were used in Beijing Olympics Games. Tonghai dehydrated radish went on the tables of Japanese and Koreans. Huaning early-maturing oranges rolls into thousands of families.

A flash mob themed "Colorful Yuanjiang · Joyful Songs on the Silk Road - A Feast of Ethnic Cultures along the China-Laos Railway" was passionately launched at Yuanjiang Station of the China-Laos Railway. Local ethnic dancers from the Hani, Yi, Dai and other ethnic groups wore gorgeous ethnic costumes, weaving a flowing picture scroll of ethnic customs with their songs and dances.
