The annual celebration of New Year’s Market and Rape Flower
Cultural Tourism Festival will be held in Tadian and Fuliangpeng of E'shan County from February 4 to 6, 2017.
It is reported that the activities include: Sacrifice to Dragon Ritual, Inviting Flower-drum Goddess and Sacrifice to the Drum Ceremony, Inviting Contest of Mountain Bike Cycling, Photo Contest themed on rape flowers and the celebration, Media Works Contest, the Last Stitch Ceremony of Chinese longest Yi Embroidery Work, Yi Culture Seminar , Dragon Dance, Flower-drum Dance, Cock Game, Long Street Banquet, Fireworks Show, etc. The Celebration of New Year’s Market, also known as the New Market Festival, is a grand traditional festival in Yi nationalities’ ghetto, and it is annually held on the first fair day after the Spring Festival every year. During the celebration, people of all ages and both sexes from surrounding villages dress in festive costumes and gather to the streets. The members of dragon dancing team, flower-drum team will spontaneously come to the street to provide performances. They pray together for a better year to come, a greater harvest and better-off life in the coming new year. Today, with more rapid economic and social development of E'shan County and its better layout of tourism resources, the celebration of traditional festivals was further enriched.
