The Beauty of Succession
The name Hongta District is closely related to a local opera named Huadeng.
This opera originated from folk songs in Jiangnan region of China. In Ming Dynasty, it was introduced into Yunnan, and won its popularity in Yuxi. Nurished by the local culture, it became a brand-new form of opera named “Huadeng”. As time goes by,Huadeng Opera made its place in Yuxi and played an important role in Yuxi culture.Many plays performed by Yuxi Huadeng Theater won national prizes, and Yuxi Huadeng Opera was listed State-level Non-material Cultural Heritage Protection List.
Yi Lu, a director and also an actress in the theater, is recently working on a new play which tells the story of national musician Nier’s life in his hometown Yuxi.
Though I’ve been living here for so many years, I don’t know enough about Nier. To find out more knowledge and get inspiration for my performance , I had to tour a lot.
The beauty of Profoundness
The national flag ceremony is performed regularly in this city, because it is the hometown of musician Nier, songwriter of the national anthem.
People in this city are very proud of Nier. They believe it is Huadeng Opera that gave Nier his musical gift, and the spirit of city that inspired him.
This is a little town with memories of Nier everywhere.
It seems that his spirit was melting into a whole with this land. For someone like me who want to know about Nier, it’s better to start with knowing about the city.
The Beauty of Creation
Hongta District has the fame of “Central Yunnan Granny, and it also produces fine tobacco.
This tower was built in Yuan Dynasty, small but with quite a fame. It is Hongta Tower located in Hongta Mountain. Under the mountain locates the well-known international tobacco enterprises Hongta Group.To recall the memory 60 years ago, it's just an unknown small tobacco toast factory at the foot of Hongta Mountain, it is the land of Hongta District that provide nutriment to it.
I now finally understand why people has so much affection towards the word “Hongta”, for this small and humble Hongta Tower contains a kind of spirit that everyone in Hongta District value and cherish, that is, pioneering and creating constantly.
The beauty of harmony
Feng Liandong, owner of a restaurant, starting from rescuing a wounded egrets, he became good friend to all the egrets in the city. For over ten years, he buys fresh fishes everyday for his date with these beautiful elves, even on his rough days.
It is a true story, though as beautiful as fairy tale. I think, I have discovered the secret at the core of this city.
Words are not necessary regarding this kind of beauty. Walking in Hongta District nowadays, you will find the city both ancient and young with great ecology; you will see people smile friendly, perform elegantly and full of energy to create. All these will prove to you that it’s a city to fall in love with, to settle in, to live and prosper.
It is the center of Yuxi politics, economy and culture.

Recently, tourists have been immersing themselves in bamboo pole dancing at the Yuzhufenghai Scenic Area in Eshan. As the summer travel peak arrives, several popular scenic spots in Eshan County have jointly launched the "Charming Eshan" tourist route, which covers distinctive attractions such as Yuzhufenghai, Yuncha Villa, Xi'e Ancient Town, and the Thousand-Mu Lotus Pond. On July 21st, workers were busy among the lush potted flowers in the intelligent flower planting greenhouse of Yuxi Ziyu Flower Industry Co., Ltd. This company is a leading enterprise in agricultural industrialization engaged in the production and sales of rose seedlings, potted roses, potted succulents and potted phalaenopsis. With a very productive operation mode, this company has built a research and development platform in cooperation with multiple scientific research institutes, and owns 17 national patents. Flowers from Yuxi are sold far to first-tier and second-tier cities across China and have become a well-known brand in Yunnan's flower industry.

On May 19th, the 15th "China Tourism Day" arrived as scheduled. A flash mob themed "Colorful Yuanjiang · Joyful Songs on the Silk Road - A Feast of Ethnic Cultures along the China-Laos Railway" was passionately launched at Yuanjiang Station of the China-Laos Railway. Local ethnic dancers from the Hani, Yi, Dai and other ethnic groups wore gorgeous ethnic costumes, weaving a flowing picture scroll of ethnic customs with their songs and dances. At the scene, special fruits of Yuanjiang such as mangoes, lychee and pineapples were served for free, for passengers to have a taste, so that everyone can feel the enthusiasm of Yuanjiang, the City of Flowers and Fruits, as soon as they get off the train.
