Preface

　　This is an ancient town with a history as long as 2000 years and an experience with 3 kingdoms. This is a rich land on Yungui Plateau, with abundant resources and culture.

　　The Mountain-- A Trace of Culture

　　A long last beauty lies on the mountain, and a successive grace exists in the culture.Xiushan Mountain, is with cultural depth though it is no taller than 200 meters.

　　For thousand of years, different cultures from south-east China and Central China took their roots here and formed a unique style of art-- inscriptions. What’s more, the Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism are in harmonious coexistence in this mountain.

　　Literature tycoons and other celebrities came here and use their talent to build Xiushan Mountain into a literary shrine with literature, calligraphy, architecture and carving, and with high achievement in plaques and couplets.

　　Trees and flowers from ancient times, plaques and couplets with high values, these are what made of this famous mountain, with long-lasting gracefulness and ever-standing history.

　　The Town--A Poetic Inhabitant

　　Every morning, this ancient town, Tonghai, is waked up by the sound of footsteps, and followed by “tap-tap”, the sound of silversmith and copper-smith at work. With the craft handed down from generation to generation, they make a living.

　　It is a tradition to respect Confusion and value culture. Confucian Temple,a sacred place in the heart of Tonghai people, along with Jukui Pavilion, are guarding the history and civilization of this town, and carrying the memory and dreams from generation to generation.

　　The town is surrounded by lakes and mountains, with similar look as rainy days in Jiangnan Region. Most ancestors of Tonghai people are from Jiangnan Region, so the folk houses here are more like Jiangnan style, such as wood carving, beautiful garden and the elegance in details.

　　In history, memory has it that many streams from the north side of Xiushan Mountain are running through streets and alleys. In recent years, a renewed city-water-system recalled that memory again and present a scene of stream running through streets.

　　History lives in those long alleys. For centuries, Tonghai people live the same life with their peaceful mind, planting flowers, writing poems and enjoying each day of every season.

　　The lack---- Historical legend

　　Qilu Lake, an diamond elbowed into the land of Tonghai, is with amazing view and rich resources, making Tonghai an outstanding figure in history.

　　However, the charm of Qilu Lake is far beyond its water or peacefulness.

　　There are always stories and heroes here. 700 years ago, a Mongolia army conquered Yunnan and 3000 soldiers settled down in Tonghai. From then on, the rich land around Qilu Lake began its journey of being a legendary Mongolia town.

　　About 100 years ago, a legendary temple named “Sansheng Palace” was born contributed by a legendary wood-carving master Gao Yingmei, who spent his best 17 years to carve the windows and doors with his superior craft and left behind an art that penetrates time.

　　History develops as time travels by. More and more legends are written on the land around Qilu Lake. With the fertile soil and traditional way of cultivation, plateau-featured agriculture are booming here. The products are exported to Japan, South-korea, Russia and Southeast Asia countries.

　　In 2015 April, the famous online-shopping company Alibaba, along with some other companies, came to promote its business here. Tonghai has become a pioneer to promote online business in villages ever since.

　　The mountain, the lake and the town support each other and exist together, which made Tonghai a legendary place being famous in history and still prosperous today.

　　This is a land called Tonghai, located in the middle of Yungui Plateau. This is a land with natural look and historical heritage. This is a land as pure and quiet as a poem, displaying its beauty through time.
