The Great Significance of Six Honors in Urban Development
The CPC Yuxi Municipal Committee and Yuxi Municipal People’s Government always attach great importance to the Human Settlement Environment Construction as well to the City brand building. In 2001, the work to create a model city of national environmental protection started. Yuxi earned the Honorary Title of National Garden City in 2009 and the title of National Sanitary City in 2011. The Hongta District was named as one of the second batch of Yunnan Provincial Model City (District). The city environment is greatly improved, upgrading Yuxi’s popularity and reputation.
The work targeting to gain the Six Honors is an important measure to raise city image and to build city brand. The Habitat Scroll of Honour Award granted by UN-HABITAT is of the highest standard in the field of global human settlements. National Civilized City is presently the highest award in the domestic city comprehensive evaluation. National Model City for Environmental Protection is the identity of outstanding cities in China. National Ecological Garden City is of higher level than National Garden City. Smart City is the advanced form of the development of the information city after the Digital City. Innovative pilot city is an important embodiment of the improvement of regional innovation ability and the level of innovation.
All these Honors is the most valuable invisible asset and major brand for a city, is the collective show of the city overall image and development level, is a gauge to judge the harmony development level of a city including politics, economy, science & technology, culture, society and ecology.
The work of Liuchengtongchuang aiming at these six honors, plus the existing two honorary titles of National Garden City and National Sanitary City, shall greatly upgrade Yuxi’s city image, increase the city invisible wealth, and improve the human settlement environment. It will effectively help to promote investment; to attract capital, information, technology, personnel and other high-end elements to Yuxi continuously; to create a new height for opening-up; to promote the development of urban economy; to expand the development of modern service industry; to provide important support to find a way for leap forward development.
Recently, tourists have been immersing themselves in bamboo pole dancing at the Yuzhufenghai Scenic Area in Eshan.
