Yuxi Foreign Trade reached $373 Million in first half of 2015
In the first half of this year, the foreign economic cooperation developed along with foreign trade, Yuxi’s import and export value reached of $373 million, indicating an incretion of 38.2% compared with the same period of the previous year, ranking No. 4 in Yunnan Province, accounting 33.2% and 32.5% respectively of the annual objectives and tasks of province and city.
In the first half of this year, Yuxi’s foreign trade achieved three substantial growths. First, commodity exports increased sharply. The fresh fruit exported with a value of $145 million, an increase of 94.9%; the fertilizer exported $36.46 million, an increase of 6.4 times; dried fruit exports value $29.96 million, an increase of 16.6 times. Second, Tonghai County realized an import and export value of $187 million, accounting for 50.2% of that of the whole Yuxi City, an increase of 1.1 times; Third, 18 companies with an import & export value above $5 million, their total value added up to $291 million, showing a year-on-year growth of 76.6% and accounting for 78% of the whole Yuxi City. The leading companies are strong supporting force to Yuxi’s foreign trade.
During the first half of this year, the work of foreign economic cooperation pushed forward orderly. Three new foreign direct investment enterprises have been reported and recorded. They are, Maoyuan Fruit and Vegetable Import and Export Co., Ltd set up by Yunnan Maoyuan Fruit and Vegetable Import and Export Co., Ltd. in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam; Rongsheng International Agriculture Co., Ltd. wholly-owned by Yunnan Rongsheng Industrial Co., Ltd. in Bangkok, Thailand; Pan Asian Hongta Co., Ltd. Invested by Yunnan Province Yuxi Hongta Aluminum Factory in Bangkok, Thailand.
The linked development between foreign trade and foreign economic cooperation became a feature of Yuxi in recent years. In order to expand the market share, to explore sales channels and to raise export scale, quite a few fruit and vegetable export enterprises set up marketing agencies in Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Kampuchea, Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries and regions. At present, nine agricultural products export enterprises from Yuxi established 17 marketing agencies in six countries and regions. Overseas investment enterprises joint hands for development and stimulate the agricultural products export of more than $500 million.
Recently, tourists have been immersing themselves in bamboo pole dancing at the Yuzhufenghai Scenic Area in Eshan. As the summer travel peak arrives, several popular scenic spots in Eshan County have jointly launched the "Charming Eshan" tourist route, which covers distinctive attractions such as Yuzhufenghai, Yuncha Villa, Xi'e Ancient Town, and the Thousand-Mu Lotus Pond. Additionally, thoughtful "one-day tour" and "two-day tour" itineraries have been planned, attracting numerous tourists to come and experience.
On July 21st, workers were busy among the lush potted flowers in the intelligent flower planting greenhouse of Yuxi Ziyu Flower Industry Co., Ltd. This company is a leading enterprise in agricultural industrialization engaged in the production and sales of rose seedlings, potted roses, potted succulents and potted phalaenopsis. With a very productive operation mode, this company has built a research and development platform in cooperation with multiple scientific research institutes, and owns 17 national patents. Flowers from Yuxi are sold far to first-tier and second-tier cities across China and have become a well-known brand in Yunnan's flower industry.

In the first quarter of this year, the company sold a total of 5.284 million branches of fresh cut roses, achieving a total sales revenue of 17.86 million yuan.

On May 19th, the 15th "China Tourism Day" arrived as scheduled. A flash mob themed "Colorful Yuanjiang · Joyful Songs on the Silk Road - A Feast of Ethnic Cultures along the China-Laos Railway" was passionately launched at Yuanjiang Station of the China-Laos Railway. Local ethnic dancers from the Hani, Yi, Dai and other ethnic groups wore gorgeous ethnic costumes, weaving a flowing picture scroll of ethnic customs with their songs and dances.
