Chengjiang Fossil VR Movie "Cambrian Homeland" Will Be Debuted at the Venice Film Festival
Chengjiang Fauna Fossil Site, located on the bank of Fuxian Lake and Maotianshan Mountain in Yunnan Province, fully displays the marine community and ecosystem in the early Cambrian period tracing back to 530 million years ago. The VR film "Cambrian Homeland" produced with the background of Chengjiang Fauna Fossil Site will be unveiled at the 76th Venice Film Festival "Focus on China" on 29th , 2019.
The Venice Film Festival is the first film festival and one of the three major film festivals in the world. In order to further strengthen the film and cultural exchanges between China and Italy, as well as Europe, under the joint guidance of the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio and Television of China and the Film Bureau of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism, Xinhua Net Co., Ltd. and the Italian Film Industry Association (ANICA) co-sponsored the "Focus on China" series of events.
Chengjiang Fauna Fossil VR film “Cambrian Home” was produced in 2018. Through the anthropomorphic and personalized design of a series of ancient creatures such as the Fuxianhuia and the anomalocaris, which represent the Chengjiang Fossil Geopathology, the story of “Life Explosion” about hundreds of millions of years ago in the deep ocean was told.
Previously, the beautiful scenery of Fuxian Lake in Chengjiang was showcased at the “China's Most Beautiful Outdoor Scene” promotion meeting of “Focus on China” in the 74th Venice Film Festival. This time, as a landmark exclusively in Chengjiang, the fossil site will once again trigger the world.
Up to now, at least 16 phyla and more than 200 species of early Cambrian rare fauna and flora fossils were identified. The site is known as "One of the Most Amazing Scientific Discoveries in the 20th Century". On July 1, 2012, Chengjiang Fauna Fossil Site was officially enlisted in the World Heritage List.

A flash mob themed "Colorful Yuanjiang · Joyful Songs on the Silk Road - A Feast of Ethnic Cultures along the China-Laos Railway" was passionately launched at Yuanjiang Station of the China-Laos Railway. Local ethnic dancers from the Hani, Yi, Dai and other ethnic groups wore gorgeous ethnic costumes, weaving a flowing picture scroll of ethnic customs with their songs and dances.
