Sponge Parks Illustrate the Beauty of A Green and Ecological City
Yuxi was selected as a pilot of National Sponge City in 2016, and set up the construction of Sponge City since. Over the past 3 years, Yuxi has completed the sponge transformation of Dongfeng Amusement Park, Dongfeng Square, Nie’er Park, Yuxi Waterfall Ecological Park and some other parks, forming a “Spongy Body” group, which not only gives a new look to these parks, but also reconstructs the water ecosystem of the city.
With the construction of sponge city, people began to realize how great it is, and a new trend of green city construction was formed. From 2016 to 2019, Hongta District has successively launched projects such as “Green City” and “Flower City”. Through the implementation of the projects, a number of small gardens were constructed with the sponge concept of “infiltration, stagnation, storage, purification, use and discharge”, not only making the city more beautiful, but also more functional.
