Introduction

Moringa also called drumstick tree belongs to Moringaceae and is originally from North India. As a fast-growing and highly productive woody plant, its tender leaves and stems can be picked after two months of transplanting. The Moringa Tree is rich in Vitamin A, B and C, protein, calcium, potassium, iron and other mineral substances. It can help people supplement micronutrients which are essential for your body. In addition, with a high nutritional, medicinal, economic and ecological value, this kind of new resource food can be eaten and used as a nutrient-rich vegetable, woody oil plant, medical plant, nectariferous plant and feed crop.

A 5,000mu area land is planned to be used for moringa cultivation, a production line mainly producing moringa-made food, health care products and biological medical products will be established. 20 million boxes of moringa tea will be produced and processed each year, primary processing for 50 million bottles of moringa health care drinks will be fulfilled each year and 500 tons of moringa seed oil will be extracted and processed each year. The plan is to create a moringa industrial park and a processing plant with a surface area of 50mu, total investment of RMB800 million yuan and a construction period of 18 months.

Construction Condition

The project site has been accessible by postal communication and air transport and established trade relationships with other areas.

Supply of Main and Supplementary Materials and Availability of Labor Resources

Raw Materials: presently, the existing moringa cultivation area is about 3,000mu. The plan is to expand the area of the moringa cultivation base to 5,000mu via land leasing and transferring and 2,000mu of farm will be used for moringa cultivation by applying motivating measures to the surrounding farmers.

Supplementary Materials: main raw materials for establishing a moringa processing factory including iron steel, cement, stones, sand, bricks, panels, etc. can be easily purchased from Yuanjiang market. At the surrounding areas, there are lots of sand and stone stocking yards with better quality sands and stones. Stones for building can be collected there through short-distance transportation.

Labor Resources: rich in labor resources (most of the labor resources come from Yuanjiang County, Honghe County and Mojiang County), the labor cost is about RMB15,000-25,000 yuan/year.

First-Phase Preparations and Progress

The project feasibility study report has been made, the administrative license has been obtained with the approval of the government, the project design for the project construction and production processes has been prepared, the project land bidding, auction and listing have been conducted, land for construction has been occupied and all construction procedures for civil engineering matters have been handled.

Preliminary Evaluation on Environmental Impact

The gas waste, water waste, solid wastes and noises generated from moringa processing are the primary pollutants of the project. Relevant processing standards are in strict accordance with management standards of projects in industrial park and cultivation industrial standards.

Preliminary Economic Benefit Analysis

It is predicted that an annual output value of RMB326 million yuan will be achieved, wherein, RMB196 million yuan is realized by the 20 million boxes of moringa tea, RMB100 million yuan is realized by the 50 million bottles of moringa health care drinks and the remaining RMB30 million yuan is realized by the 500 tons of moringa seed oil. An annual profit of RMB97.8 million yuan is predicted to be realized with tax revenue of about RMB32.6 million yuan. In accordance with preliminary calculation results, the payback period of the project is 2.5 years.
