Introduction

The project tends to plant 3,000mu contiguous lotus root to the north of New Ring Road, to the south of Hengda Road, to the east of Liangwang River and to the west of Eastern River within Maliao River. This can form the splendid landscape with a fusion of river, bridge, city and lotus root to show its prominent features in line with the local condition. On the basis of that, the project can extend to become an ecotourism project with lotus root as its theme, which collects entertainment, sightseeing, culture display, food processing and catering services as a whole.

Implementation Principle

The project conforms to national correlated polices & regulations and development plan of agriculture industry in Chengjiang County.

Construction Condition

The annual average temperature is from 11.9℃ to 17.5℃, and the annual average rainfall is 900-1,200 mm. The nutrients, nitrogen and cuprum are rich in the soil. The paddy field is partially alkali and the land is partially acid. The project is located in a flat farmland without factories and mines. The project has advantageous environments and convenient transportation, which is bounded on the south by Ring Lake Road, Fuxian Lake. 

Supply of Main and Supplementary Materials and Availability of Labor Resources

Chengjiang County has a long history of cultivation of lotus root, so the raw materials can be supplied by local people; the infrastructure there have a certain scale. The water, electricity and roads are available for construction development and restructure. The labor force can be provided by local people with about RMB75 yuan/day a person.

First-Phase Preparations and Progress

The feasibility study is conducting, and the project procedures are complete.

Environmental Impact

The project is able to meet the requirements of relevant laws and regulations on national environmental protection.

Preliminary Economic Benefit Analysis

Chengjiang County has a favorable ecologic environment and a long history of lotus root cultivation and processing. The lotus root produced here has a fresh and tender taste and a high milling yield. The products weather fresh food or high-quality processing food are favored by consumers in the markets, and the special lotus titled “seven holes eight eyes” has been approved by Registered Geographical Indications. The project has a broaden prospect as Chengjiang has abundant tourism resources (Animal Fossil Complex in Maotian Mountain, Fuxian Lake, Ancient Tomb in Jinlian Mountain and Dinosaur Fossil in Tiantou Mountain ) and high social popularity.
