Introduction

Tonghai County is the largest vegetable production county in Yunnan Province. The outer-layer and middle-layer leaves of most vegetables are always peeled off and thrown away before transportation. An average of approximately 1,000t middle-layer leaves of Chinese cabbages is discarded each day, and they are exactly what the Kimchi is made of. The project plans to use these discarded leaves to make the Kimchi on a 50mu-construction area. The construction period of the project is 2 years.

The project complies with the agricultural development plan of Tonghai County.

Construction Condition

Tonghai County is located within the one-hour economic circle of Kunming, where the Yu-Meng Section (Yuxi-Mengzi) of the Trans-Asian Railway has opened to traffic.

In 2014 in the county, the GDP was RMB7.9 billion, the local financial revenue added up to RMB0.5 billion, the total social retail sales amounted to RMB2.38 billion, the urban per capita disposable income realized RMB27,062, and the rural per capital net income was up to RMB11,475. The project is designed to meet the 8-magnitude anti-seismic standard and enjoys the national preferential policies of the western development.

Supply of Main and Supplementary Materials and Availability of Labor Resources

The utilities and other auxiliary materials of the project are abundantly supplied and the traffic here is convenient. The water is RMB 4.9/m3, the household electricity is RMB0.45-0.8/kwh, and the labor resources are abundant, with nearly 150,000 laborers in the county where the price of labor power is about RMB2,200/month.

First-Phase Preparations and Progress

According to the investigation on vegetable wastes of Tonghai County, there are around 90 refrigeration plants and approximately 500 warehouses built to provide large quantities of middle-layer vegetable leaves.

The project is constructed in strict accordance with the national environmental protection standard and requirement.
