Hongta District is located in the center region of Yunnan Province with convenient transportation and favorable weather. The total area of land is 1,004 km2, and the altitude of the central urban area is 1,630m. The whole district is subject to a mid-subtropical, humid and cold plateau monsoon climate with an annual average temperature of 16℃. In 2014, the per capita GDP of Hongta District ranked first in Yunnan Province with a total output value in Hongta District of RMB61.745 billion, total output value of subordinate areas of RMB23.22 billion and local financial revenue of RMB2.812 billion. It has been listed in the Top 10 economically-developed counties in Yunnan Province for seven consecutive years.
