Yuxi is prosperous for its mountains and beautiful for its lakes.
　　It takes less than an hour to go to Yuxi from Kunming by car or by bus. Yuxi is a newly prosperous city on the plateau, with the scent of the flowers all the year round. The important geographic location and favorable climate has won Yuxi the name of “the Famous Region of Western China” and “the Tourist Paradise”.
　　People could feel the romantic and graceful modern atmosphere on the broad way to Yuxi city. Four plateau lakes, namely Fuxian Lake, Xingyun Lake, Qilu Lake and Yangzong Lake are imbedded around Yuxi city. The lakes make the land honorable and mysterious.
　　It is said that Fuxian Lake is a paradise that fairies could be seen easily. The Fuxian Lake with an area of 212 square kilometers contains the 2/3 of the fresh water in the lakes in Yunnan Province. Xu Xiake, a famous traveler of the Ming Dynasty, was fascinated with the clear lake, so that he could not help saying that “Fuxian Lake is the clearest lake in Yunnan”. Yang Shengan, a distinguished poet of the Ming Dynasty, said that “the natural picture more beautiful than the West Lake”.
　　At present, the beautiful Fuxian Lake is an important tourist resort in Yunnan. The ancient method to catch fish, small silent villages, modern hotels and other facilities make the Fuxian Lake a seashore garden on the Yunnan Plateau.
　　As culture becomes a real brand of local tourism, multi-factors contribute to the rich tourist compositions of Yuxi culture, Huayaodai Nationality as the representative of Yuxi ethnic culture, Mt.Lijiashan and Mt.Xiushan as the topic of Ancient Yunnan Culture, Nie’er (the national anthem composer) as the core of Yuxi local culture, Yuxi Cigarette Factory as the symbol of modern enterprise culture and Dayingjie--the first village of Yunnan as the representative of entertainment culture.
　　Nowadays, hiking, camping, rock-climbing and other individual tour are popular which play leading roles. The Ailao Mountains and the Red River attract people from home and abroad due to their harmonious nature.
　　There is not only a national nature protection area, but also typical customs. Hundreds of years, the Ancient Chama Path, crossing through the Ailao Mountains, played an important role in the commerce and communication to the outside world in Ancient Yunnan. The Ancient Chama Path is praised as the most precipitous path for cultural diffusion.
