Specialties Xinping Pickle
Xinping Sour Pickle is the first specialty and cuisine. It is
very exquisite to pickle Xinping Sour Pickles. It will be very delicious
if you pickle the green vegetables planted in Guishan Town or Pingdian
Town in Xinping. The taste of the Sour Pickles using the green vegetables
planted in other places cannot be compared to that using the local
green vegetables. If the local green vegetables are carried to other
places to pickle, it will have a less favorable taste. Moreover,
if the pickled green vegetables are introduced from other places,
the taste is not as good as the original.
Mosha Red Banana
Introduced from Malaysia, Red Banana Trees have been planted.
Characteristics: thick, plump, bright-colored, tender pulp, nourishing,
with fragrance of cymbidium, called ^The First Red of Yunnan ̄, rarely
seen, sold to Beijing and other areas.
Litchi
Characteristics of Feizixiao Litchi: green and red, sweet, thick
and tender pulp, small core, crisp, with pleasant fragrance, good
quality.
Characteristics of Large Red Gown Litchi (Dahongpao Litchi): bright-colored,
fragrant, smooth, sweet.
Characteristics of March Red Litchi (Sanyuehong Litchi): ripe
in May, big fruit, bright-colored, thick pulp, juicy, sweet and
sour, tasty and refreshing.
Black Edible Fungus
Black Edible Fungus is one of the specialties in Xinping and
the principal traditional commerce for export. Characteristics:
nourishing, contenting protein, various vitamins, a little calcium,
phosphorus, iron, good quality, black-colored, thick pulp, crisp,
moderating intestines, exported to Hong Kong, Japan and Southeast
Asia.
Fragrant Mushroom
Characteristics: rich protein, calcium, phosphorus, high value
of nourishment, a traditional specialty for export, produced in
Ailaoshan Mountain. Xiping people usually stew the fragrant mushroom
with eggs, while some families like to stir-fry the fragrant mushroom
with the pork cut from the back of a pig, then enhanced with little
Lantern Chili.
Lotus Root Starch
Characteristics: long history, traditional product, produced
in Ancient City (Gucheng) and Naxi of Pingdian Town, convenient
to carry, rich nourishment, favorite gift to friends.
Zhelong Walnut
Characteristics: rich fat, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamins,
high value of nourishment, easy to crack, thick walnut meat, fragrant,
sweet, crisp and etc. It is not only a main source for processing
candies and cakes, but also can be used as ingredient in drug making
for digestion.
